Great turnout at ABQ’s recently held Annual Charity
Day Children enjoying a fun day out all for a
good cause
IN a highly commendable
endeavour, Azzan Bin Qais (ABQ) Private School managed to raise over RO
1,000 at their recent 5th Annual Charity Day, thanks to the good efforts
of the school’s Students Committee who had organised the event, held at
Ghubra Park.
Suad Mohammed al Mudhaffar,
Principal of ABQ, praised the good work put in by the committee, which
helped make for a highly successful event. This was the first time that
their Annual Charity Day was opened to the public — previous ones were
open only to students, and the location was chosen specifically to
accommodate more visitors.
The big turnout on the day
allowed for a high turnover of all the items on sale, consisting of
donated items, snacks, confectionary, cakes and soft drinks, homemade
food, ornaments, toys and gift items. There were also a number of
participatory fun games and competitions that allowed visitors to test
their skills and prize raffle draws.
All monies collected,
totaling in excess RO 1,000, will be given to the Oman Charitable
Organisation (OCO) who will then distribute it to those in society who
are most in need. Another popular attraction was the ‘kids fashion
show’, by KG1 and KG2 students and a break-dance performance given by
SNK. Main event sponsors were Nawras, Pocari Sweat and Emirates Medical
Centre.
